Committed Heswall runners Faridah Brooker and Bev Faulkner are pushing themselves to the limit once again by taking on the London Marathon in April.
The duo were among a team of four who took part in the big race last year and they have been doing some unorthodox training for the 2019 edition. They took part in the Boxing Day Dip at the marine lake in West Kirby along with about 200 others.
Mainly this was about raising money for their chosen charity Wellchild, and there are a number of forthcoming fund raisers in the run up to April. Wellchild nurses specialise in supporting seriously ill children, including a number at Alder Hey Hospital.
Faridah confessed that this will probably be their last go at the marathon, given the amount of training required.
She said: “It’s probably going to be our last one. It’s hopefully third time lucky to break the 5 hour mark.”
The two women will be putting on plenty fundraising events including another bingo night, psychic night, bonusball and an afternoon tea.
SO far are well on their way to meeting the £3,200 fund raising target but if you want to help please visit their donations page at :https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/TheLastHurrah
