Dawn Chorus with Wirral Wildlife: Meet at Cleaver Heath, Oldfield Road, Heswall, starting at 4.30 a.m. and finishing at approximately 7.30am. We should hear a wide range of both our resident birds and returning migrants, and there should be plenty to interest those who can already identify birds by call and song, as well as those absolute beginners who want to make a start. Booking essential on 342 4249. Sorry, no dogs.

 

Sunday 3rd May
New Ferry Butterfly Park Open Day, 11am-4pm. To mark the beginning of the open season to the public there will be a host of fun packed stalls and activities for the all the family to enjoy. Come and see what New Ferry Butterfly Park is all about and join in the celebrations of its continued success. There will be an opening event at 11am to start the proceedings. Only disabled parking allowed at the park on the Open Day. Public transport available – the Park is next to Bebington Train Station. Heswall Flower Club will welcome Anita Wright from Stafford with her demonstration entitled “Gardener’s Delight” 8pm at Heswall Hall. New members always welcome more information available from Lesley 342 9327.
Saturday 9th May
Bluebells Galore at Dibbinsdale, 2-4pm. Meet at Bromborough Rake Station. Guided walk through ancient woodland to enjoy bluebells, celandines and other woodland wild flowers. All of footpaths but some steep steps. Free of charge. No booking needed. Sorry, no dogs.

Explore the Rocks – the Geology of Thurstaston Common, 2-4pm. Meet at the car park for Thurstaston Common on the A540. Explore how the rocks beneath your feet came into being and how they have influenced our lives. Local geologist, Hilary Davies, will lead visitors over the Thurstaston Common ridge, visit Thor’s Stone and explain the features exposed in the rock cutting on Telegraph Road. Some steep slopes. Wear stout footwear. Free walk. No need to book.
